Does Covert Hypnosis Really Work?
For many people, the idea of covert hypnosis is a difficult pill to swallow. The ability to hypnotize someone right off the street without them knowing it is not a common everyday skill most people possess. However, it is intriguing and curiosity usually gets the better of them. So, the questions I am most often asked are: "What is covert hypnosis and does it really work?"
Well, as I have already said, covert or underground hypnosis is simply an undetected form of hypnosis. Instead of asking for a person's permission to hypnotize them traditionally, you use embedded commands in everyday conversation to influence a person's actions.
But does this "secret" form of hypnosis really work? The short answer here is ... yes, it does. In fact, stealth hypnosis tactics usually work better than traditional trance induction because your subject is completely unaware that you are hypnotizing them. Their guard is down, their defenses are lowered, and they are completely open to suggestion.
Why does this approach work so well? Well, in my experience, I have found there are 3 major reasons why covert hypnotic tactics are more effective than traditional hypnosis. Here they are ...
Rapport -
All hypnosis methods begin with establishing rapport with the person you are hypnotizing. In clinical hypnosis settings, rapport is more difficult to establish because the subject is usually nervous, skeptical, anxious, defensive, etc. However, you can easily establish rapport with someone right off the street just by shaking their hand and showing interest in their life by asking personal questions.
Motive -
A person who visits a hypnotherapist already knows they are going to be hypnotized and even if they desire treatment, their natural instinct is to defend themselves. So, they unconsciously resist the hypnosis. But, a person who undergoes covert hypnosis has no idea they are being induced. They are simply having a nice, relaxed conversation with you. So, they always remain open and focused on every word you say.
Commands -
Traditional hypnosis uses direct commands. (You are getting sleepy...) However, when using covert techniques, you use embedded commands. Embedded commands are cleverly interwoven in your speech so the person you are talking to has absolutely no clue you are ordering them about ... but that person's subconscious mind will pick up and obey every instruction you give.
Truth is, those who learn the art of covert hypnosis will not only become better hypnotists, but will also have an unfair persuasive advantage in nearly every realm of life. There really are no limits. Imagine having the skill and power to influence and control the minds of your boss, your spouse, your children, your pesky neighbor who keeps stealing your newspaper, etc.
So, the question isn't if covert hypnosis works. It does. The question is ... "How will YOU use it?"
